Assemblymember Nicole Parra Capitol Office State Capitol P.O. Box 942849 Sacramento, CA 94249-0030 Dear Ms Parra, I am writing to you regarding AB1735 because it will severely limit my access to raw milk. My family depends on this milk for their health and wellbeing and we do not want it restricted in any way. I urge you to reverse your position on this bill. I am particularly distressed that this law was passed without bothering to contact the two producers of raw milk so that they would be able to have input into a law that would so drastically affect them and all of their customers. I believe that you care about your constituency and wish to serve and protect them, however, I think this is a step in the wrong direction. There is no evidence that the limit of 10 coliform bacteria per milliliter will make the milk any safer. All it will do is make raw milk more difficult if not impossible to produce. Raw milk already has a very safe track record and this law certainly does not add anything to product and public safety. If this law is not repealed and raw milk cannot be produced, I will essentially not have this milk available for my family’s needs. This is completely unacceptable. I know your form letter in response to concerns about this bill stated that the sale of raw milk was not banned. It is clear to me that you were misinformed regarding the implications of this law. I am hoping that you will do more research regarding this issue and that you will do something quickly so that this law is not enforced. Thank you for your consideration, Regards,
